The younger generation today are undergoing very upsetting changes at various depths of their personalities – physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. This transition makes them enter into a world of self-possession; a period of searching, doubting, questioning, etc. Young people often need recognition and they get into all sorts of bad habits. One of the major reason for this ruin of youth is the lack of proper communication in families. Communication is one of the major element for a family to function effectively. It is through meaningful communication that there is a development of healthy relationship between the family members.
Today as we can see; open communication is not encouraged by most families and as a result the youth often find that they have no role to play in the family and this paves way for fragmentations of family relations. Every member of the family must be assured a certain space in his/her family because it is only in the context of meaningful space can every member of the family grow in an effective functioning of the family. Communication in families must be able to establish cohesion which can bring about greater attachment and closeness among the family members.
For the proper functioning of the families; the boundaries had
to be clear. They must be well defined so as to allow each member to function
without any interferences; but at the same time, have meaningful communication
so that every member of the family functions effectively by the creation of
space in the family. Every members especially youth must be encouraged to share
everything with their family. This can lessen the amount of stress and helps to
provide proper guidance to the youth. Thus with a better space of freedom in
the family we could easily build a productive, responsible and loving
generation right from the home. And here the hope for a better world in peace stands
strong.
